0.3 TTE – Day 37 – Oct. 4, 2025

I wanted to try a second build in 0.3. I saw CaptainLance9 Bloodmage build and the “life stacking/spending” tech. I had never tried Bloodmage, Ember Fusillade or Fireball so here it is…

I followed the Captain’s recommendations as per his great guide on Maxroll. levelled with Essence Drain / Contagion until act 4 and my first 2 trials. Then I swapped to Ember Fusillade and Fireball. I bought a 3 ex wand and a 10 ex focus to help with damage. Mana management was a bit more tight, damage and clear a bit low, but it was still comfortable. I completed the campaign in 12.5 hours, I died 11 times (no deaths until the stupid Viper in act 3). I went mapping at lvl 66 after buying 5-10 ex items to bosst life, dps and cap res.

Then I start buying the pieces of gears one by one to actually play the build while I was levelling up. The first piece of gear I bought was the Tecrod Undying Hate. I tried to play with it but I had to remove as I didn’t get enough life regen yet.

So I levelled up to 80-85, respecced the tree and start using all the expensive tech pieces:

I played a bit without Rathpith and Kaom as I was too pour, it was playable but not powerful or tanky. Once all geared up, I did my 4th ascendancy, levelled to 90, and unlocked the rest of my atlas tree which I hadn’t completed with my first character.

Clearing maps didn’t feel great and I got quickly annoyed of the playstyle. Also, after playing a Ranger, it felt slow.

Bossing is better with the auto targeting.

But what is the most annoying is the ramping up of life cost to get your life regen in a comfortable position. With every boss phases, every time you loot something, respond do a whisp, it really forces you at mashing your keys without stopping which is not the way I like/can play.

Builds Comparaison

Impossible to be fair but I’m trying my best. I’m trying to get all characters to lvl 90, 4 ascendancies, 5L, gem level 19 and under 10 div.

This one has a 6L because 6L are cheaper this league. It’s also more than 10 div but 1 div = 62 ex right now so it’s not that bad.

What I liked

  • Single target – pretty high DPS and auto targetting
  • Defense – Pretty tanky once life cost is ramped up, almost immortal
  • Respectable visibility – so many builds are visual cancer, this one might seems so when the fireball proc but it’s not that bad and I don’t remember dying because I couldn’t see something

What I disliked

  • Ramping up – yes, already discussed but it really annoyed me. And sometime it’s almost impossible. For example Arbiter of Ash, when going into the circles or the corridor, I’m not good enough to keep casting while moving. So when the phases is completed, it’s pretty dodgy to not kill yourself with your first casts and the boss targeting you
  • 2 butons playstyle when mapping – Ember Fusillade for rare/magic and Fireball for the rest
  • Expensive – Popular builds with rare uniques and linneage support so it cost a lot to get going
